Today the Tshirt is cool. But just 60 years ago, it was not acceptable for people to wear T-shirts in public. T-shirts were underwear!
The first T-shirts
The first T-shirts were cotton undershirts given to American sailors in 1913 to hide their "schocking" chest hair. At the same time, US soldiers in Europe discovered cotton undershirts. The soldiers preferred these to the wool undershirts, which were part of their uniform.
Future T-shirt fashions
At the moment, the fashion is to personalize your T-shirt. There are lots of web sites, like www.shirtcity.es or www.spreadshirt.es, where you can make a T-shirt with your own photo or message on it. We can't know which style of T-shirt will be fashionable next. But we can be sure of one thing. The T-shirt is here to stay-we'll all get up in the morning and put on a T-shirt!
There are over 16265 junior high schools or middle schools in the USA, for kids aged from about 11 to 14. Teenagers aged from about 15 to 18 go to high schools. In the USA, kids go to school from Monday to Friday. School starts from 8 or 9 am and finishes at 3 or 4 pm.
Lockers:
Schools in the USA have lockers, so you don't have to carry all your books all day. Students decorate their lockers with posters and photos.
SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS:
Many middle schools have cheerleaders. These girls learn chants and complicated acrobatics. They "cheer" the school's sports teams during games.
